Your Mission

Your mission is to be an integral part of building and scaling the Finance function within lemon.markets. As Senior Finance Manager you develop processes and policies as well as support the Product Development team and other functions - becoming the go-to person for external stakeholders and auditors. You will play an important role in establishing lemon.markets as the go-to-provider for launching investment products in Europe.

At lemon.markets we value ownership a lot. Meaning you have a lot of autonomy in shaping your area of responsibility. Your report directly to our VP of Finance and collaborating closely with Risk Management, Product, Compliance, among others, making sure our Finance function is set up for long-term operational excellence and scalability. This is your opportunity to have an impact, not just on the Finance department, but also on the product, to help launch a compliant investment product.

You will:

• Manage and optimize various Finance processes, especially within Accounting, but also Regulatory Reporting or Planning and Controlling, by leveraging your knowledge and expertise.

• Collaborate closely with the VP of Finance on special and strategic projects, helping transition processes into scalable, best-in-class workflows.

• Be a point of contact for our external auditors, ensuring timely delivery of high quality documentation by various teams.

• Work together closely with the Management Team and build, monitor and refine our annual financial plan and timelines.

• Support on product work, defining and documenting functional requirements, establishing test concepts and testing/documentation and associated implications.

• Cultivate a culture of knowledge-sharing as you work closely with our Product Development team, bridging the gap between finance and innovation for strategic product advancements.

You will be successful in this role if:

• You have a strong background in Finance and regulated financial services. You have at least five years of experience in a finance function at a bank, FinTech, or another regulated institution, or with a Big Four or other leading audit firm. You have strong knowledge of German GAAP under HGB, including RechKredV or RechVersV. Knowledge of IFRS is a plus, as is experience with group accounting and consolidation.

• You are proficient in Excel. You are comfortable using Excel to analyse financial information, prepare reports, and support finance processes. Experience with financial modelling is a plus.

• You understand regulated financial environments. Experience in the regulated finance industry is required, and exposure to regulatory frameworks such as IFR or CRR would be particularly valuable.

• You are willing to support in shaping the function. You are a hands-on player, willing to put high-quality processes in place from the beginning while remaining pragmatic with more complex solutions.

• You thrive on ownership. You are intrinsically motivated to deliver value by taking initiative and challenging the status quo.

• Communication and collaboration come naturally to you. You are able to communicate well with diverse audiences and explain requirements and technical topics clearly, while effectively communicating the risks and opportunities you identify.

• You understand what working in a startup or similar lean organisation is like. You can move quickly and focus on what is truly important.

• Growing investing opportunities excites you. Our mission resonates with you because you have worked in the financial sector, such as brokerage or banking, or in the technology sector, such as FinTech or API-first companies.

• You are fluent in German, or comfortable working in a German-speaking regulatory environment. Fluency in German is a plus.
